...The Holiday Flowers Blog...

Happy Holidays folks, I hope that everyone has a safe and joyous holiday! The holidays this year are bitter-sweet, because this is my first holiday without my grandparents. In 2010 my maternal GRANDFATHER died on Dec 17 and my maternal GRANDMOTHER died Dec 28; between those deaths, my paternal GRANDMOTHER died on Dec 24. You can only IMAGINE what the holidays were like for my family in 2010. I am thankful that I gave them their flowers while they were able to appreciate their beauty and fragrence. Just to get back into the swing of blogging, I wanted to send a shout out to my family, friends, associates and anyone who took a second out of their day to read this. I love you all and be THANKFUL beyond Nov. 24, 2011. ...I hope that you enjoyed your bouquet...

Life Support Blog

I recently had a very meaningful conversation with a meaningful person from South Northern Carogeorgiawaressouri (America's 79th state to be exact... just you wait and see). The conversation ranged from serious to playful... we discussed something that everyone can relate to= "Life Support". "Life Support" being the cast of people that you surround yourself with or support system. Our convo brought me to the realization that I should primarily focus on the people who are my "Life Support", because they are going 100% for me just like I am. This blog was designed to show my appreciation. I would like to give some special shoutouts to my personal "Life Support" People: KT!! "My #7 Fan : ) "- You believed in your boy when most didn't, when others thought that all was lost. There is never a moment when I question your friendship. I feel that I am actually doing you an injustice by trying to assign words to your relevance (cliche-ish? maybe.... sincere? indubitably). I appreciate you!! Love ya lady!!! :) My brothers from another... MIDI, L. Noel, & Ntelli- Odd that my mother had one son, yours truly, but I manage to have 3 brothers... G-Man!!!!- You may call him God, but we're homies like that so I call him G-Man. G-man made it all possible..... needless to say.... thank you!! ...if I forgot you, do something about it... get it?!

Musing Blog

Life, I wonder...
There is only one guarantee in life: You only get one. Life consists of a plethora of joys, sorrows, highlights, lowlights, successes, failures... the list is abundant. Life is as good or as bad as you make of it. You must learn about life's balances as you grow in this world in which we live. Timing is crucial during your life; it's all about the "Know when.." "Know when" to be aggressive/passive... "Know when" to be strict/lenient... "Know when" to be upbeat/calm... "Know when" to be loud/ silent... etc etc... Life is also similar to an obstacle course; many deterrents appear as it takes it's course. Despite all of the deterrents, you must get you "triathlon on" and conquer each and every hinrance, ultimately learning from them.
Honestly, I do not know where I was headed with this blog... just typing what comes to mind about life, I guess!
...I don't know...
R.I.P. Big Melvin
Hey Melvin remember that time when we playing around at the apt off of Rosewood? And it was all fun and games until you FOLDED ME UP!!!! The wife came and fixed me up and gave me CANDY!!! I really didn't like you for a couple of hours, or at least until my arm felt better.....haha!
Remember when you, Lil Melvin, and I were on the proch and we saw that snake? I had to kill it before the wife made it home?! Haha.... for what ever odd reason, I hated chicken fingers for a while after I killed that serprent!! LOL!!
Your memories live on cuz!!! I'm glad that I "gave you your flowers while you could smell them"
I miss you already.....

The Bye Bye 08 Blog...

First and foremost, I'd like to say that New Years baby, directly above these words, is the coolest that I have seen IN MY LIFE!!!!!! Now..... shall we begin!
Two Thousand and Eight.... all 367, yes... ALL 367, days were cool. You're probably asking yourself, "Is the Crown Royal that Jonathan consumed on New Year's Eve prom ting him to add another day to the year?" Well the answer is yes and no; the Crown from the previous night aided me in remembering that '08 was a Leap Year (ie 29 days in February). I digress no more... 2008 was a great year, I must admit! The previous year taught me that you are ultimately as good as your effort. 2008 bared the fruit of civil rights leaders of the past labor's; consequently, Barack Obama.... I mean really, need I say more? 2008 sent my cousin E to Kuwait, this was not necessarily a highlight of my year, but I know she had to do what she had to do. So E, I love you and I can't wait to see you!!! I witnessed my Amigo do his thing in the Big Bad Beat Battle; this was a highlight, because it was another resume builder for his drive to "producer greatness"! I never told you this Amigo, but your work ethic towards your craft influenced me in my pursuit of this degree! TOUGHER THAN LEATHER AMIGO!!! While I am speaking on music.... a big "WHAT UP?" is in order to my big little brother Rob!!! I'm expecting big things from you this year too, your music is quality fam..... sincerely! I'd like to give another special shout out to my mother's mom! She exemplifies "in sickness and in health" like no other; that's why you are my "G-Unit" (Grandma Unit).... love you!!!! Academically I would like to show my appreciation to all of my professors for their positive reinforcement, it really means a lot! It's funny, when you hint at my intelligence I always feel that there is much more for me to do to gain that "intelligent" title. I would also like to express to my professor's that the knowledge that I acquire under your guidance is a reflection of your skill in "professing"! None-the-less, I am constantly working to prove all of your reference letters accurate and appropriate! I did not leave 2008 with everything that I wanted, but time will afford me with other opportunities for those miscellaneous things!! Oh yeah....shouts outs to FP!!! You already know cousin!!! Last, but not least, the homie Leon.... congrats on the engagement homie, I'm proud of you!! I wish you and "Cuzo" the best!! Oh yeah, we gave "Cuzo" and her sister the business on the dance floor (unfortunately they will never admit it)!!! I mean really..... who can mess with the "Kid-N-Play" dance?! Exactly! We brought in '09 the right way!! HAHA!!
Shout outs:
To the coolest God-sons in LIFE: BJ, Christian, and Kaleb!!
What's up Brewer's?! I love and appreciate ya'll!!
.... man, just shout outs to every body in the world!!!!
Still I stand... I'm back off to work....

The Ice Portis Blog

Just waking up in the morning gotta thank God... I proceed to the gym and do my daily exercise, 26 must feel good, because I was a beast on the treadmill and the elliptical machine. I left the gym and showered up, got clean and looking good for class etc, etc... All of my classes were cool. I attempted to get out of them by informing each of my professors that it was my "Born Date", each of those attempts failed miserably. Later on that day I dropped in on my dad's friends house, his mother had passed that previous Thursday, I had to show love and support. Just because it was my b-day did not specifically mean that everything was all about me, ya dig? After that stop I had to swing through my Aunt Ruth's house, we share the same birthday too. Unfortunately she wasn't home, so I left her card on her bed. Last, but not least, I stopped by my homie D'Arryl's house, because his birthday is on the 25th too. We bugged out a minute, I played with my Godson, and we had a couple shots of Cognac -smooooooooooooth-! After my adult beverage cooled off and a game of Madden, I made my way to the house to call it a night. All that I can say is "It feels good to be here!!!!" ....I gotta say it was a good day!
